Everything is connected. Maximize what works.
In biology an ecosystem is the relationship of organisms and their environment. A business ecosystem is the relationship of the product/service and the environment in which its customers live.
By simply mapping out all the relevant relationships today you can describe probable outcomes to your actions tomorrow. For example:
- How will this affect my existing sales channels?
- What resources do I currently require?
- Who are the key opinion leaders on this matter and how do they currently communicate?
- How are population dynamics affecting my business? Is the aging of America helping, hurting or not impacting at all my current business?
Once mapped, you are ready to apply the law of disproportion… the 80/20 rule. That 80% of your results - sales, profits, leads, features — come from 20% of the input — customers, media mix or feature sets.
The call to action is to maximize what is working in your business ecosystem and minimize what is not. It takes courage to ruthless map your system and confidence to eliminate under-performers but the results are rapid, measurable and secure your future.
