Step 1: Map Your Business Ecosystem

We Help You Identify What Is Known and What Is Missing.

Start The Clock

There’s power in deadlines and yours is 100 days from now. On a calendar we mark the date. This deadline is now non-negotiable.

We Help You Identify Your Goal

We don’t expect flowery language. Just a few sentences will do. Your definition of the goal will shift over the next few weeks as you become increasingly more sophisticated in your planning. So go easy on yourself and just rapidly commit your best thinking to paper.

Check Your Inventory

Large maps in public places often feature a giant arrow pointing to a tiny spot announcing “You Are Here.” With a single glance you know the distance between your present location and your ultimate destination.

This is what we design as a first step for your project: a road map featuring where you are now and where you want to be in one hundred days.

We start by asking you to make a list of what you already have and know. For example:

  • How much time can you commit to the project?
  • What resources including people and technology are available?
  • Who wants to see you succeed?
  • Who or what wants to preserve the status quo?
  • What is your budget? Don’t have one yet? Use a best guess.
  • How will you measure success? New business? Launching a website? Making a presentation to The Board?

Find What’s Missing

We also will want you to make a list of what you don’t know such as:

  • Has it been done before? Is your project revolutionary or are there case studies you can learn from?
  • Do you have a choice of different tools and technologies you can use, or are you locked in?
  • If you’re going to use outside vendors, who are they? Are they available?
